We attended the christening of the new ferry “Jantar Unity” (Unity Line / POLSCA)

Jantar Unity enters service: an important step for transport and logistics in the Baltic Sea

A ceremony was held in Szczecin to mark the launch of the new M/F Jantar Unity ferry operated by Unity Line / POLSCA Baltic Ferries.

The event was attended by Rafał Olszewski, President of PKS Gdańsk Oliwa, and the vessel itself is one of the most modern in the Baltic Sea – both in terms of technological solutions and safety.

Modernity, scale and solutions for cargo

From a transport perspective, the scale and functionality of the vessel are of key importance. The “Jantar Unity” is a Ro-Pax ferry designed to handle both passenger and cargo traffic. The vessel stands out for its:

  • very large capacity for road transport
(4,100 m cargo line, which translates into approx. 200 semi-trailers),
  • a modern LNG propulsion system supported by a battery system (hybrid),
  • solutions that increase manoeuvrability in ports
    (important in time-critical operations),
  • high safety standards – also in emergency scenarios
(including passenger guidance systems in the event of a power failure).

The event was attended by the President of PKS Gdańsk Oliwa, Rafał Olszewski, as an industry guest and transport market partner. Being there was also an opportunity to talk to industry representatives and see the vessel “from the inside” – including a visit to the bridge and learning about solutions that have a real impact on safety and quality of service.

President Rafał Olszewski summed it up briefly: “I
was there, I saw it, and I am very impressed. As a Pole, I am proud of this.”

Booking crossings for transport

It is worth adding that, as PKS Gdańsk Oliwa, we have had the ferry crossing agency promy24.com for 25 years, which supports carriers and logistics companies in planning and purchasing crossings – especially on routes that are important for European international transport. That is why we treat such events pragmatically: new vessels and investments in the fleet translate into greater predictability, better service standards and more stable supply chain planning.

We would like to thank the organisers for the invitation and the opportunity for direct meetings and industry discussions.
Such investments strengthen the market, increase the predictability of operations and raise the standard of ferry services — which ultimately translates into benefits for customers and the entire supply chain.

The current schedule for Jantar Unity and all other ferries on the Baltic Sea is available at promy 24.com.
