60th anniversary of PKS Gdańsk Oliwa (1966-2026)

In 2026, PKS Gdańsk Oliwa will celebrate 60 years of operation.

That’s six decades of presence on the transport and logistics market, six decades of building competence and consistent transformation from a transport company to a modern integrator of the TSL industry.

Today, the company is a recognisable brand on the transport services market – in international and domestic transport – and is known for its comprehensive supply chain services in Poland and Europe. The anniversary is not only a moment of reflection, but also a confirmation of the organisation’s stability and resilience in a changing market environment.

Since 1966 – the history and transformation of PKS Gdańsk Oliwa

The company was founded in 1966 as Przedsiębiorstwo Przewozowe Towarów (Freight Transport Company). It went through a period of political transformation, privatisation in 1995 and subsequent stages of development of the TSL market in Poland. Over the years, PKS Gdańsk Oliwa has consistently expanded its range of services, investing in infrastructure, competences and technology. Today, it operates as a transport and logistics integrator, combining various modes of transport with contract logistics and complementary services.

Transport and logistics integrator – comprehensive TSL services

PKS Gdańsk Oliwa’s business model is based on process integration and taking responsibility for the entire supply chain. The customer gains a single point of coordination and predictability of operations, regardless of the scale and complexity of the project. The scope of services currently includes:

The company has seven branches in Poland and one branch in Hungary. It has a fleet of 60 of its own vehicles and cooperates with a fleet of approximately 400 subcontractor vehicles. Warehousing operations are carried out in facilities in Gdańsk and Pruszcz Gdański, in the immediate vicinity of key transport hubs and seaports.

PKS Gdańsk Oliwa provides its services mainly to the FMCG, industrial, paper, furniture and steel industries, and also organises the delivery of sensitive and special cargo, including ADR and WSK.

Logistics Gdańsk – IT-based security of operations

Modern logistics is primarily about information management. In international supply chains, risks most often arise not in transport itself, but in the area of documentation and communication. PKS Gdańsk Oliwa bases the security of its deliveries on proprietary IT systems and electronic document circulation.

These solutions enable:

  • early detection of deviations in transport,
  • quick access to documents,
  • shortening of settlement times,
  • minimisation of the risk of documentation gaps.

Any deviations in order fulfilment are visible in the system before they become a problem for the customer. This approach translates into predictability of operations and a real reduction in cost risk.

Promy24.com – PKS Gdańsk Oliwa cargo ferry operator

An important pillar of the business is the ferry service operated under the promy24.com brand. The platform has been operating since 2001 and is one of the most recognisable in Poland in the field of cargo ferry reservations.

The service is an important link in building integrated supply chains, connecting road transport with sea connections throughout Europe. The integration of ferry services with other elements of the offer enables customers to efficiently plan and execute international transport.

Turquoise values and a mature management model

PKS Gdańsk Oliwa was one of the first companies in the Polish TSL sector to implement elements of the so-called turquoise organisation. Over time, this model has evolved into a hybrid management system, combining partnership-based cooperation with clearly defined operational responsibilities. Today, the company’s management is building its own model, preserving values and strengthening what improves operational efficiency. An organisational culture based on responsibility and transparent communication is the foundation of the company’s stability and its relationships with customers and partners.

60 years of experience and the next stage of development

The 60th anniversary coincides with a succession process and the entry of the next generation into the management structure. Intergenerational continuity combines experience with digital skills, supporting the further digitisation of processes.

In the coming years, PKS Gdańsk Oliwa plans to:

  • develop its warehouse infrastructure,
  • maintaining and developing its own fleet,
  • further investment in IT systems,
  • strengthening its position as a transport and logistics integrator in Poland and Europe.

After 60 years of operation, the company is entering a new stage of development with a clearly defined goal – to provide customers with stable, predictable and secure TSL services in a dynamically changing market environment.

PKS Gdańsk Oliwa is a symbol of the evolution of the transport industry in Poland – from a local transport company to a modern partner in the management of complex supply chains.
